Free Jungle Girl!
Posted on February 10, 2007
About a month ago I read the story of a woman found living in the jungles of Cambodia. Thought to be the lost daughter of a Cambodian family, she was living as a damn wild woman for 18 years. Bully for Jungle Girl. Described as having “blackened skin and hair down to her legs,”Jungle Girl has also been termed “half-human, half-animal” by local police. Well, I guess so.
The family who lost their daughter 18 years ago has claimed Jungle Girl as their own, but she’s apparently having a difficult time adjusting. They say that she cries a lot, and that she’s tried to run away from them, back to the jungle. I say let Jungle Girl go back to the jungle. In the update, there’s now some skepticism over her true identity. Why would a family claim that a wild woman was their daughter if they weren’t absolutely certain that she was? Is that a Cambodian thing?
This story not only tugged at my heart strings, but also fondled my knee a little. So touched was I that I have composed a ringtone especially for Jungle Girl. Import it into your mobile phone or VoIP application (or just hit the blue ‘play’ button to hear it). Hopefully it’ll remind you to say a little prayer for Jungle Girl every time someone calls you.
