A Rain Of Blows

There was an exciting storm in Zagreb late last night. For nearly forty-five minutes, multidirectional blasts of warm air rattled windowpanes, shredded shudders and sent errant dogs and cats scrambling for shelter. Then it rained sheets of cats and dogs. I was certain the building would be decimated, that fish would come shooting out of the toilet, or that a rift in the time-space continuum would crack open and suck me back to 8th century Wales. But like a jailhouse beatdown, it was over as suddenly as it had come.
