Pelješac

To declare that the vastness of the Dalmatian topography inflames the heart and rouses the spirit is to vastly understate the actuality of its magnificence. This is but one view of the Pelješac Canal from the road to Nakovana. The clipper you see anchored at Korčula was rumored in Viganj to be that of an Arab prince.

The same sun that sweetens Pelješac grapes also vaporizes the surface of the bountiful Adriatic. If the haze that veils the air in summer had a sound, it would be that of a swarm of locusts.

It is not merely wonder and awe that grip the awareness, but also a deep quaking with tremendous fear. There are a hundred ways to die in this place. Each comes without warning and none are pretty.
But to look upon these islands, hills and waters is akin to looking God directly in the eye. There it is, right in front of you, but you hardly believe what you’re seeing.
