Croatia’s best loved, longest lived punk band is Hladno Pivo (it means ‘cold beer’). Observe the heaving throng that turned out when the Cro punk legends played Zagreb’s main square last Saturday. Need further proof of Hladno Pivo’s greatness? Here’s the pudding.

Killer set. Quite honestly, I haven’t seen this much energy at a punk show since the Circle Jerks and 7 Seconds played the Sports Palace in St. Louis back in ‘88 (or was it ‘89?). I am old.

Why does the pit always form to the left of the stage?

Ah, there was love and mirthful, youthsome rebellion in the air… And it wouldn’t be punk rock in the Trg if no one jumped into the fountain and splashed around like a chimpanzee. Remember this night well, young Zagreb heckraisers. And, Hladno Pivo, thank you for playing the way you play.

Žao mi je što ja to nisam doživjela… ali mi je drago što si to ti doživio :-)
