Travel Advisory

As of next Friday, I should be in Kućište on the Pelješac Peninsula of Croatia’s southern coast to resume my research of Dalmatian food and wine. This village is just a stone’s throw from the discovery of an Illyrian cave temple at Nakovana, and right across the Pelješki Kanal from the isle of Korčula, birthplace of Marco Polo. Apparently, windsurfing across the channel to Korčula will get you there far more quickly than taking the ferry. I’ll have to test that theory out…

The entire area is rich in history and unspoiled natural beauty, and I’m thrilled about spending time in such a place. I have been told that there is a natural olive oil spring that trickles from the left hind foot of an ancient rock shaped like Bugs Bunny, and that jackals roam the hills. If you’d like to know a bit more about Kučište, simply click this link for its Wikipedia entry.
