Where ‘Hello’ Means ‘Goodbye’

Posted on May 3, 2006

Budapest in May

Budapest it is. As much as I’d like to take more time to explore this city, I have a mountain of data and media to sort and edit from the trip down (and up, and down) the Croatian coast. I wish we’d taken more time with some of the people and places we experienced in Croatia, but the overview we got will help me make decisions about what needs more focus on the next trip. I hope to return within a month.

I miss Croatia already. I was beginning to feel relatively comfortable with the language and the people, but now I may as well be on another planet. At least I had the sense to pick up a book of Hungarian lessons before I left the US. I’d better start stepping into the language here ASAP. When I tried to buy a bartender a whiskey last night, she refused politely, but I think I ended up with a date with her on Friday. I think.
